Is there a way to omit the categories list when displaying the album?

From: Encaps   Date: February 13 2008, 09:04
There is a way - by modifying html template

Thanks, but could you point me in the right direction please.

You may include or not the catalog_categs.html, depends on conditions.

Hello,

My thumbnails sizes don't change when I apply new size in the admin panel. I change the size from 200px to 500 and nothing happens. Please let me know.
Thank you

From: Encaps   Date: February 12 2008, 08:55
The thumbnails are static, they are not generated "on the fly", so if you just changed the config value, it will not change all thumbnails. You will need to regenerate thumbnails.

Trying Encaps for the first time:

I uploaded the package to my web server.
Set permission to the ini file and folder as per instructions.

Manged to run catalog_cfg.php succeffully.

Created a databse manually and then tried running the /catalog_db_install.php
The information provided here is exactly as per the db (username, db name, password, localhost)

The error received is 'Unable to connect the database xxxx'

I can access the db through MyPhp Admin and it looks fine. Of course no table created in it.

Any suggestions!!!!

It happens sometimes on Windows (IIS) servers, I will implement more detailed log info for easily figure out the reason, it will take a day or two, will let you know.

From: Guest   Date: February 12 2008, 16:13
Ok..But mine is a LINUX server

From: Encaps   Date: February 12 2008, 16:36
Ok, in this case I suppose the database connection is failed because of wrong connection settings: database host, db name, user, password.
Anyway I will add some more info for the error description.

From: Guest   Date: February 13 2008, 14:35
The problem is solved.

It is actually the db name. on Cpanel database has a _prefix. I added that to the db name and it worked out fine.

Cheers!

Hi, when I click an image, they show up to the right of the thumbnails, so people have to do a lot of scrolling to see the actual picture
Is there a way to make the images appear at the bottom (of the thumbnails), to create more space?

From: Encaps   Date: February 12 2008, 09:00
There is a way - you may modify html template.

From: Guest   Date: February 11 2008, 11:12
here's a modified template I'd like to make available as a download for encaps gallery, how do I make it available to endcap users?

Thank you, but I did not notice differences from "acd" template. Maybe the link you provided is wrong?

Hi there!

I've a problem: I'm trying to upload an image, (it's 938kb), and I'm receiving this message:

File uploaded successfully: ../rwx_gallery/10398_Jennifer_Beals_122_1048lo.jpg

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12124 bytes) in /www/*******.com/t/h/e/thelword/htdocs/gallery/core/misc.class.php on line 291

The images it's uploaded but the thumbnail it's not! This also occours when I upload via FTP. With images of 100-200 kb I have no problem. A friend of mine, who told me about Encaps, said that images sized about 2MB can create problem...so, I've saved them again, lowering the quality, but the problem it's still there...

Thanks for your help and have a good day ^_^

Oh, yes, this happens on some servers, I don't know yet what is the reason exactly, and how to fix.
I guess it's because of limited memory available for php-scripts.
There is a line #14 in admin/catalog_head.php:
ini_set("memory_limit","256M");
You may try to increase the value "256M" up to "512M" (or "1024M").

From: Guest   Date: February 14 2008, 09:13
I've tried with 512...Now I'll change it to 1024MB...I'll let you know if work or not...Thanks, anyway!

Hi I bought a copy of Encaps after trying the free program. I downloaded a copy of the 'full' program, but it doesn't seem to be any different. I thought I'd get more control over the shopping cart eg it currently is in USD I want to use pounds sterling, but I don't see any way of changing this. Am I just missing something?
Thanks

From: Guest   Date: February 09 2008, 01:17
Hi! I ran across that answer elsewhere on here. Here it is:

Yes, it's possible to change the dollar sign to the pound or euro, but it is hardcoded into html templates. You can use html-editor for replace "$" symbol with:
€ Euro: € or €
£ Pound: £ or £
And also you should change currency code in the shopcart.php page, line #46:
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="USD">

Files: "html/_skin_/gallery.html", "html/_skin_/gallery_custom.html" , "shopcart.php", "shopcart_preview.php"

From: Encaps   Date: February 09 2008, 03:50
The only difference between free and purchased program is bottom banner link
and encrypted php code.

From: Guest   Date: February 09 2008, 04:08
Okay thanks for that, I thought it was me. Like the the program.

Thanks for the help on my question.

Hi again, have been trough all the files in encaps folder and I can't find files that have been referred to:

Files: "html/_skin_/gallery.html", "html/_skin_/gallery_custom.html" ,

I don't have any files called 'gallery' - have these been renamed 'catalogue' maybe? Looking for clues in these files isn't easy as I want to change the dollar currency sign, but of course the files are full of dollar signs.

found these okay

"shopcart.php", "shopcart_preview.php"

Help would be appreciated. Thanks

From: Encaps   Date: February 09 2008, 06:10
You are right, the files "gallery*" are renamed to "catalog*"

From: Guest   Date: February 09 2008, 07:09
Okay I think I found all the files that needed changed and they seemed to be fine on the test site.

I can't tell if it works completely because I get an error message when trying to checkout. I restored the site back to original and the same thing happens.

I think the problem may be that I have two zero cost items in the cart which I can't delete. The paypal error says I have nothing in the cart, but I had two items at $5 and two at zero. I can't find where this info is stored.

Hello, I've looked and cannot find an detailed answer on how to use the gallery with folders rather than every image in just one folder.

How exactly do I do this? I have the rwx_gallery folder (777) and inside that a folder called test (777) with images in it.

Now, how do I need to create the categories so that the images within folder "test" are scanned and ready for display?

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Hello Bill,
unfortunately the feature "rwx_gallery subdirectories" is removed since version 1.7

What file do I edit to get a new line with break ex. /n</br>

From: Encaps   Date: February 06 2008, 14:52
Could you please provide more details, it's not clear :(

From: Guest   Date: February 06 2008, 21:43
In the comments I have to manually put </br> to get a line break ex
Picture 001
</br>Picture Info

this makes the piture info on the second line.

From: Encaps   Date: February 07 2008, 02:00
<?php echo preg_replace("/\n/","\n<br>",$item["comment"])?>

From: Guest   Date: February 07 2008, 17:41
Do I put this code on the gallery HTML or the admin HTML? I assume admin HTML because thats what puts it in the database?

From: Encaps   Date: February 08 2008, 09:10
The line above you should place into front-end (user, not admin) html. If you'd like to replace all "new-line" ("\n") characters with "<br>" before save to database, I would suggest you to integrate WYSIWYG editor into admin html (FCKEditor, DevEdit, or any other)

This is very perplexing! I hope you can help.

I just downloaded your Encaps PHP Photo Gallery and successfully installed and configured it. Added a category and some images, but they don't show up when I go to the index page. Don't know what could be wrong.

I've checked and double-checked everything. There are no error messages in the admin, and the information is being put in the database correctly. The permissions are set correctly on the folders too.

I have PHP4.4.2 with GD and am using IE7 browser. The template I'm using is "raym".

Please help!
